A Night at the Museum

Today we swing by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City for what I have titled "A Night at the Museum". It was getting late in the day on this visit and the crowds were thinning out, which is a great time to drift about and go where the people are not for some clear shots. I found myself alone and with tripod in hand (by permit) so I quickly setup and grabbed a few bracketed shots of the scene. This exhibit is part of the Greek and Roman Art gallery where there are all sorts of really interesting artifacts. One cannot help but marvel at what's on display when you consider the history surrounding this display.

I felt that this image would make a fairly nice monochrome with all of the marble and stone work. Since this type of photography involves a wide range of gray tones some dodging and burning was required to keep the image from looking too drab with dingy gray color dominating the scene. One of my 2013 goals in to do more of this style of imagery so I am still feeling my way a bit. :-)

Below we have the color version of this 3-bracket shot (+2 to -2). This is the result of being processed in Nik's HDR Efex Pro 2. The image above was converted from the one below.

Should you ever find yourself in NYC with a day (8 hours) to spare, take a trip to The Met, you will be so happy that you did.

Thanks for clicking by. :-)
