I always get excited about going out in the early morning to create some images, particularly when there is a lingering fog or mist in the atmosphere, which tends to produce some unpredictable effects. The lighting often looks drab and uneventful but you can see the faint hints of beauty and the potential for enhancement during post-processing. The image below is a perfect example, nearly devoid of color and completely underwhelming when viewed in the field. Upon first look the image screams monotone, which is not a bad idea by the way.
But those RAW files have a way of storing a wealth of information and can dramatically change an image.

A close look at the end of the pier shows a couple of people sitting in lawn chairs fishing.
This image was processed in Lightroom 4, using a "Morning Glow" preset. I then exported the image to Photoshop where the "Cool Tone I" filter was applied via Topaz Adjust. That's it!
