Blue Hour at the Docks

The "Blue Hour" that arrives twice daily is a wonderful time for photography, yet many photographers miss out on this period of twilight and produce few if any images during this short period of time. You can include me in that group as well. However, the benefits of making the extra effort to produce blue hour images is well worth it so I am targeting this as a new project for myself to 1, become more proficient at this aspect of photography and 2, to add to the limited number of blue hour shots I have produced to date. The image below was taken on the edge of darkness one night on Carter Creek in Irvington, Virginia. This is a place I have visited for more than 3 decades and an area I know very well. I'll spare you the many fishing and outdoor stories since we are limited in both time and space. :-)

This is a community boat ramp area where you can launch and recover your vessel for a small fee. From this point you have direct access to the Rappahannock River, one of my favorite places to hang out. Several miles up the river is where I produced this image of the Delta Dawn.

Having watched this area grow and develop over the years there has been one constant, it has never lost it's quiet and peaceful nature, one of the many reasons I find myself there so often. :-)

Thanks for clicking by, friends!
