Boat with No Name

Today we flash back to last June and one of many boat excursions along the waterways of the Mid Atlantic Region, a favorite pastime. Whether fishing or simply cruising around, it is always a fun experience. The image below was taken on the Corrotoman River, which lies about 8 miles north of the mouth to the Rappahanock River in Virginia's Lancaster County. While there visiting friends we decided to head out early one Sunday morning, ending up at an old oyster processing house. As I surveyed the oyster processing house I spotted this older model boat with no name.

Suddenly it dawn on me, this boat had been sitting here the last few times I visited. It continues to show signs of weathering and the old window air conditioner, well, has seen it's better days as well.

This once proud cabin cruiser seems to be just riding out the string of life or awaiting someone to breathe new life and vibrancy into her. Hopefully the latter.

Since the waters were calm and the morning light had not become too harsh at this point in time, I decided to fire off a few brackets in case she was gone the next time I came through. With no visible registration numbers, no name and a general look of abandonment, heaven only knows what fate awaits. Sort of reminds me of this "Better Days" image.

This black and white conversion was accomplished using Photoshop, which sometimes leaves the image a little flat for my liking. This time around the result was a little better than expected.

Thanks for visiting!
