At 29 floors and 342 feet in height, the HarborView Condominium strikes and imposing stance along the waterfront of the Baltimore Harbor. I remember when this was being built (1993) and it seems like yesterday. But time marches on.
During construction I thought a commercial skyscraper was in the making instead of the residential high-rise building Harborview turned out to be. But this is urban luxury living with amazing views, boat slips and a long list of other amenities to fit the discerning lifestyle. And the capper, its location, which is right in the middle of all of the action. Fine dining, live music and a 5-mile promenade are all within a short walk. You can also walk to not one, but two professional sports venues, Camden Yards, the home of the Baltimore Orioles and M&T Bank Stadium, where the Ravens roost.
This Harborview Condominium is part of a planned community that also includes waterfront Pier Homes, townhouses and a private marina for residents. This is upscale living, much like a resort. It is what many would call the “Good Life”. :-)
I photographed this as an addition to my Architectural Collection of images and was drawn to the exquisite detailing of the building’s exterior. Notice the lighting provided by the beacon on the left (east) tower. I read that the lighting was recently updated to LED’s which can provide a nearly unlimited number of colors. Perhaps this light display will someday become as popular as the neon that graces the Domino Sugar Refinery just east of this location.
What a beautifully designed building and outstanding location. This is vertical living at its best!
