In today's post we share a photograph taken during the back end of the evening blue hour. Footbridges have a way of enhancing the surrounding landscape, often standing out in settings where there are natural backgrounds like wooded areas, streams and rivers. The footbridge featured here crosses an old railroad thoroughfare along an industrial area. As darkness overtook the sky and the moon showed some warm colors on an otherwise very cold, single-digit evening, I was happy to capture the scene below.

At the time of this photo, the ground had been snow-covered for weeks. Like most, I had tired of seeing it, except on this particular evening. I thought the snow added a nice contrast to the scene and think there would have been a considerable amount of darkness in the open space below the bridge without it.
I am also not a fan of overhead power lines unless the somehow assist in leading the eye further into the scene. But here they blended with the sky enough to not present a distraction and showed the presence of a railroad system. The tracks below have been removed but many of the old railroad ties remained.
Thanks for visiting!
