Morning Light

Morning Light

In today's post we have the magical lighting of an overcast morning sky, which always amazes me since you never quite know what you're going to end up with. Mix in a little atmospheric haze and it gets even more mysterious. It's one of the reasons I love to be out on mornings after a storm or dramatic change in temperature. The interplay between the lighting and moisture in the air often produces surprising results.

Thunderstorms had rolled through the night before this image was taken and I had hoped to catch a bit of fog lifting. As it turned out, it was already hot and sticky with temperatures in the mid 80s (F) before 8:00 am. The overcast sky would soon burn away and send us to a roasting 100 degree day. :-)

This was a 3-shot bracket (-2 to +2) that produced a fairly decent HDR image but I had also played around with the -2 exposure in Lightroom, so I decided to go with that one after using the "Auto Tone" preset under "Lightroom General Presets", that ships with the product. It was a good jumping-off point and a few additional adjustments later this one was finished.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
