On a day when the sun was visible for only 15 minutes during it's rise, I was fortunate to catch this view which was shot from across a roadway and through the woods. It rained the remainder of the day. This is another example of why it's a good idea to keep a camera handy. Rain had been forecast for this particular day and clouds had rolled in the night before, so there was no real expectation of catching a sunrise. As I drove a country road and rounded a curve I could see the brilliance of the sun in the distant sky. The challenge then became one of finding someplace to pull over and out of harms way to capture a shot during this brief window of opportunity.
I came upon a church and pulled into the lot, setting up as quickly as possible. My tripod is usually on the back seat with the legs extended, which really saved precious time and saved the day. :-)
This 3-bracket shot was all there was time for as the suns was quickly obscured by the clouds.
