Rail Yard Equipment

Traveling through southern Pennsylvania you come across many small towns and communities with things of historic value. Such was the case when I passed through Stewartstown where a railroad company was created around 1885.  During it's first nearly 90 years of operation, the Stewartstown Railroad Company provided freight and passenger services to the communities of the Deer Creek Valley and ran a route to New Freedom, connecting to the Northern Central Railway. Just off of a main intersection sits the historic railroad's property, including the original station. With a typical small town feel, you can walk right up to the site and take in it's historical significance.

In this HDR image I simply focused on the rail yard equipment resting on the rails alongside the building. The long arm-type structure extends from a small crane on the track. The small cart reminds me of one of those two-man pumpers with the handle in the middle.  I do not know the technical names, hence the title, Rail Yard Equipment. :-)

Processing

The RAW files (-2, 0, +2) were processed using Nik's HDR Efex Pro 2. I was able to make all of the adjustments there to obtain this final result. One of the great tools in this package is the adjustment brush where you can apply any effect locally, which save s a ton of time.
