There is no better time to be out with a camera in hand than the morning as the sun rises. I never get tired of watching this amazing and magical act of nature. Today's image was taken on a recent trip to Millenbeck, Virginia. Sunrises are much later during the winter months, and in this case it was about 7:05 AM. Reading the sky for the most intense light, it was easy to see exactly where the sun would appear through the trees.

I have always found trees to be both beautiful and inspirational parts of nature. Here, they stand tall like sentries on lookout along the shoreline of the Rappahannock river. Having captured these in silhouette adds a bit of mystery to their presence and leaves a little something to the imagination of the viewer.
Now that we are in the midst of the holiday season, I sincerely wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. May 2014 be your best year to date.
Thanks so much for visiting!
