YMF-5

I know, I know. What the heck is a YMF-5? Strange title for a post huh? Not if you know about rare and vintage aircraft. Now admittedly, I'm no expert on aircraft as my knowledge is limited but like trains, I love everything about them. While here in Virginia Beach I decided to visit the Military Aviation Museum where they have many replicas of machines that performed in World Wars I and II. They even have a recovery and restoration hangar on the site.

The YMF-5 serves as my opening post to an aircraft series. The plane shown here is a made-to-specs replica. The original YMF-5s were 1930s era biplanes. Open cockpit biplanes date back to the Wright brothers in 1903. Today these are manufactured by the WACO Aircraft Company and are used by enthusiast for personal pleasure and as trainers.
