Vintage cars are often seen at car shows, museums and auctions but it's the really rare ones that garner the most attention and intrigue. I immediately begin to think about the vehicle's history, where it's been and who may have owned it. If there is someone around like the current owner or a mechanic, that is usually an opportunity to strike up a conversation. Few vintage car owners will pass on a chance to talk about their car and share some of it's history. Such was the case some weeks ago while driving past an auto shop known for it's restoration work and attention to detail. I always look forward to passing this location because you never know what may be sitting out front.
On this particular day the car out front sitting in the 100-plus degree heat was a rare piece in extremely outstanding condition. This baby was manufactured before I was even born, yet it looked like it was barely a year old. Furthermore, fewer than 300,000 passenger vehicles were manufactured by Dodge in 1949, making this car truly a rare find.

I have several other shots of this beauty to share but this is the first one processed. There is also a tid-bit of history associated with this car, as relayed to me by the shop owner and mechanic who has worked on it. We will cover that in a future post soon.
