Revel Atlantic City

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you enjoyed a very nice weekend. Part of this weekend was spent in Atlantic City as we celebrated the birthday of a dear friend. We really had a great time just hanging out and enjoying ourselves.

Today's image was taken on the boardwalk at New Jersey Avenue and shows the soon to be open (April 2012) Revel Atlantic City Resort and Hotel. It certainly looks like a real beauty from the outside and I'll be returning for an inside look after the dust settles. I understand that the interior will be sporting an ocean theme, which only makes sense here on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. Can hardly wait to see it. :-)

I captured this image as the sun was rapidly falling and the sky was transitioning toward the "blue hour". This is one of the last sunset shots of the day.

Being a fan of architecture, I couldn't stand here without zooming in for a closer look at those beautiful glass windows. You'll also notice that the place is well secured. There is a policeman on a bike and a patrol car stationed nearby.

Nothing like a brand new hotel and casino to draw a crowd of people and you can bet this place will be hopping. This may be one of the last images of so few individuals in and around this building. ;-)

Have a great day and thanks for visiting!

Skyscraping

Skyscraping

After a rainy greeting to NYC, the skies began to clear during the overnight. That's always my signal to get out there the next morning and look for something special. It's a hit or miss proposition but you never know. On this occasion the clearing was slower than the sunrise so nothing spectacular was in the offing. But continuing to look skyward put me in the mood for something creative. Similar to trees in a forest, I wanted to find something that stirs a little emotion.

By the way, the foreground building may seem to have a bit of a shaved top left corner but it is actually an architectural feature. This feature is lighted at night, which we'll see in a future post.

I've continued to experiment and build on a B&W collection, so this image will meet the same fate. ;-) I'll soon assemble a portfolio of the best ones, keeping with some plans I've had for some time. Many of you have been a tremendous help with your feedback and I am most grateful for that.

Liz Hess Gallery

Today we take a quick window shopping trip to the Liz Hess Gallery located in downtown Lancaster PA's Gallery Row. This series continues to focus on attractive glass windows with interesting displays and/or surrounding architectural features. When I was last in Lancaster the Liz Hess Gallery display was one that stood out. There is likely a bit of competition among the galleries located in this fine art district of town, as many are meticulously decorated. In many ways front windows are like plates of food, if they don't look really good, no one's going to be interested. :-)

Gallery Row

While driving through Lancaster Pennsylvania I came upon a section of town that was lined with art galleries. It was an eye-catching experience which compelled me to stop and grab a few shots, especially since it was early morning and the streets were pretty much empty. While taking the shots I came up with the perfect name for this post, so I thought. While doing some keyword research I ran the title "Gallery Row" and wouldn't you know it, that's what this area is called anyhow. So much for my originality. :-)

On the corner is HMB Designs, an attractively painted building.

A look down the street will round out this post.

As previously mentioned, this area is loaded with art galleries and studios. There is even a Chiropractor amongst the shops in the event of neck strain while viewing all of the wonderful items. :-)

We'll have a look at some others in a future post.

As always, I appreciate your visits and comments. Thanks!

Enjoy the day and we'll see you tomorrow.
