Fishing the Inlet

Happy Friday! Thursday. Gee, my Friday post launched a day early (oops!). Computers... always doing what you asked them to do. LOL

It's been a whirlwind week of sorts, so today will be a quick post from the road. One of the favorite pastimes you'll see in and around beach towns is people fishing. I captured these folks hanging out at Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach. I recall the day being one of those roasting hot ones with temperatures approaching 100, but it did not deter these anglers from their mission.

Enjoy!

The Ferris Wheel

In the previous post we watched some kids at play and I would like to keep with the fun theme in this post as well. Amusement rides have always been something that captures the imagination and brings a level of excitement. One of the earliest amusement rides is the now famous Ferris wheel, a staple of just about every venue. Designed by bridge builder George W. Ferris, he built his vision for the 1893 World's Fair. Ferris hailed from Pittsburgh and also had a connection to the railroad industry.

One of the many things I like to photograph are well lit amusement rides at night. I captured quite a few of these over this past summer and share a couple with you below.

In this first shot the Ferris wheel looks as though it may roll over the ice cream store next to where it was erected.

In the final shot for this post we have two rides, a Fun Slide and a Ferris wheel. I shot these on an angle to make them appear as one.

Enjoy the rides friends!

I'm heading off on a little road trip so I'll be visiting on an off schedule, but we'll see you out there. :-)

Kids at Play

Today we have a look at a series of candid shots from a scene I came across recently. I stopped by a section of a popular stream where there is always people enjoying the crystal clear fresh water that runs there. You normally find canoeing, tubing, fishing and general horseplay in and around the water. I noticed a couple of youngsters horsing around and having a ball. They appeared to be brother and sister, although I don't know that for sure. But what really caught my attention was the care-free manner in which they were simply having good old fashioned fun.

Where could they be climbing?

A game of King & Queen of the hill? She seems a little timid. :-)

We've reached the top, hooray! Now what?

Take a Flying Leap

Take a flying leap!

Hey I've been bushwacked!

Oh how I'd love to have this shot to take again. Bad positioning allows the bush to obscure the splash.

Ahhh
Ahhh

Now that they survived the leap, a question is likely asked.

Wanna Go Again

Wanna go again!? Huh? Cmon!

Have a great day everyone! :-)

A Seat at the Beach

Really quick post today, gang. I'm on the run, road trip actually. There is a ton of stuff to squeeze into today, which makes it the type of day that makes me long for the image below. Since I won't have time, please have a seat at the beach for me. I left the chair below in Virginia Beach... just for you. :-) Enjoy the day!
