Worthington Valley

Roadside Stand

Welcome back, friends! In today's post we visit a site that is just down the road from these grazing horses, a roadside stand. During the Summer months here in the Mid-Atlantic Region you see these stands spread around the various counties, often on the edge of farmland. These are great places to gather fresh veggies, fruits and all sorts of sauces.

Roadside stands are not limited to produce, all sorts of wares are sold from these temporary places of commerce.

Of course, like many traditional markets I have my favorites that I repeatedly visit. This particular stand in Worthington Valley is located in western Baltimore County and falls in the favs category. A seasonal operation, they will stay open to well into the Fall when the last harvest of the year takes place.

So let's get to the goodies. If you like farm fresh produce and the likes, the Misty Valley Farm stand pictured below is the place for you.

Grazing

Welcome to the weekend! Maryland, like Kentucky is huge in the horse racing industry. With horse breeding farms scattered all around the counties there are plenty of opportunities to see some of these beautiful animals. On an early Spring day I was driving through Worthington Valley and snapped the photo below when I saw these horses grazing near the fence line.

Could there be a world class speedster in the bunch or are they simply for riding and steeplechasing? One thing is certain, these animals live a very good life here in the valley. :-)

Be safe and have a great weekend folks!
