Sunset in the Atrium

Quick post today, friends. While downtown for a boat parade (boats decked out for Christmas) I kept my eye on the sun anticipating an opportunity to create something. As it was setting, I could see it heading toward the backside of the rooftop atrium on the National Aquarium so I decided to wait it out. The image below was the result.

Having setup my tripod on a bench in the distance, I waited until the sun was just dropping below the roof line which decreased it's intensity. This was a 3-shot bracket but I processed only the -2 exposure as a single image in lightroom 4.

Top of the Stairwell

Happy Tuesday, folks! Quick post today as I'm off on a wee-hour road trip.  In a previous post we had a look at a corridor that I found to be architecturally attractive. What was not visible from that perspective was the interior of the top of the stairwell leading to the corridor. In the image below there is also a more complete view of the glass roof, part of what is often called an atrium (interior open space with glass roof).

Enjoy!

Stained Glass Atrium

Welcome to the weekend! After a really busy couple of weeks, I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend. It will be the last of the year since holiday festivities begin afterward. Anyhow, TGIF! So I'll end the week as it began, in a room within the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  This particular exhibit was filled with hand-crafted jewelry, some dating back more than 2 centuries. But as in the previous post, I was drawn to architectural elements. It seemed fitting though that a room full of jewelry would be topped off with Tiffany-style stained glass. Reminds me of a huge lamp shade. In any case, the room is really beautiful.

In the adjourning room (background) there is a treasure trove of hand-painted plates and dishes. Some date back to the 16th century. Another post for another day.

Before closing out for the week I'd like to thank you for your feedback, and support. It is truly appreciated and means so much to me.

Have a great weekend everyone!
