I visited the National Harbor in Fort Washington, Maryland on what had been a day of rain showers. The weather forecast indicated clearing skies for that afternoon so I decided to take a ride to see if I could catch a nice sunset.
As photographers we travel far and wide to create interesting images. Like many, I keep a listing of places to go and times to be there for optimal lighting conditions. But occasionally, we find something of interest in our own back yards. Having awakened early, pretty standard for me, I went outdoors and waited for the Sun to peek above the horizon. The sky was ablaze with orange and yellow colors which made for a classic morning.

When you think about it, the most beautiful part of the day is missed by the majority of earth's inhabitants. While this start-of-the-day light show occurs, many are still sleeping. Perhaps that is one of the reasons mornings are so peaceful. :-)
