change of seasons

Road to Spring

Now that the month of March has arrived we can look down the road to spring and the soon-to-be signs of renewed life that mother nature will have on display. We look forward to the wonderful colors of budding trees, shrubs and flowers as they all join the chorus, providing a feast for the eyes. The image below, while taken in the Fall of 2011, represents the road to Spring.

So let's travel on down the road to Spring and Summer where the great outdoor life awaits. It seems that most in my part of the country have grown tired of Winter and are now anxious for the coming transition of seasons. You can certainly count me among them. :-)

On another note, the past couple of weeks have been very busy times which has cut into my site visitations. I will be catching up on that in the coming days.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Signs of Spring

Signs of Spring
Signs of Spring

For weeks now I have been looking forward to seeing the signs of Spring. Not that this Winter of 2012 has been extraordinarily bad, but simply because I am ready for the transition to begin. With that thought in mind, today we have a look at an image from very early Spring of 2012.

This is a typical early Spring scene here in the eastern US. Forsythia bushes show their brilliant yellow, Lilac trees sport that awesome shade of purple and flowering fruit trees (ornamental) show bright white blooms, all of which is represented in this image. Many trees will only show buds at this early stage and some, no life at all (late-bloomers).

One of the first sure signs will be the dawn chorus of singing birds and sightings of Robins, Red Winged Black birds and Cardinals.

So, at the time of this posting (February 18) we remain about 5 weeks out from this type of activity in the Mid Atlantic Region, but I sure look forward to it. :-)
