Clock Tower

A few post back we had a look an an abstract of sorts, created from a clock. In this post I want to expose a little more of this machine. The original image was taken at the base of a clock tower, with the machinery being manufactured by E. Howard & Co. of Boston. As previously mentioned, they were known for precision watch and clock works. Some of these fine works graced the likes of the Wrigley Building in Chicago, the Ferry Building in San Francisco and the Clock Tower Building in New York, to name a few. What I have shown in the previous post and here are a part of the National Watch and Clock Museum's tower.

Looking inside the screened off window you can see one of the tower bells. A closer look can be had below.

Moving down to the base of the tower there is a room that houses the precision machinery that makes it all work. The challenge was to shoot those images through the glass windows in full daylight.

My curiosity had me wondering how this would look with a B&W treatment.

In some future posts we'll have some looks at the goodies from inside the museum. Most of the images from there were taken many months ago but only a few have been processed.

Until next time...

It's About Time

Quick post and run today as I prepare to wrap up the week for work. We swing by the National Watch and Clock Museum for a look at the exterior.

Inside this building there are thousands of time pieces covering many, many years of the craft. We'll have a look at quite a few of them in future posts and as the series unfolds.

Just to the left of the entrance is this ornate but lovely clock. The "NAWCC" stands for National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. They would never be able to fit all of that on a clock of this size. :-)

Thought I would drop in a B&W version of this shot.

As we wrap up this post we find a clock tower out front on the perimeter of the property. It really stands out in what is predominantly a residential area.

We'll move inside for some of the more intricate goodies next time. ;-)

Have a great day, folks!
