Today we take a quick return trip to the shores of Paradise Island in the Bahamas, a place where nature's beauty is always on display. On this particular morning I was on the beach before first light, simply waiting for the sun to rise. I had been looking for something to place between the camera and the sun as a foreground element when I spotted a gentleman who had just emerged from the hotel to begin setting up for the day. Look no further, I thought to myself, and so came the image below.

The beautiful sky above soon burned away into mid-morning harshness as tourist flocked to the beach for a day of fun and relaxation. That fact alone is why you must get up super-early to catch the masterpieces often painted by the hands of nature.

Thanks for visiting!

Lakeside Sunset

Welcome back! In this post we have a look at the magical light of nature at sunset. Walking the shoreline of a nearby lake we find a wonderful blend of contrasting skies, reflective water and vibrant wild grass in the foreground of this shot.

After setting up on the tripod, I was able to squeeze out a 3-second shot at f/22 in my attempt to create a little motion in the clouds. I had used a 9-stop ND filter (Hoya ND400) on the previous shot but the intense sky was overexposing.

With the light changing quickly I simply removed the ND and settled for this rather than loose the scene totally. Not as streaky of a sky as I had hoped but acceptable.

As always, I appreciate your visit and comments.
