Sky on Fire

Sky on Fire

In photography there are times when less is more and that certainly applies to shooting silhouettes, which often gives a feeling of mystery and suspense.

A Downtown Bistro

Every city and town has them, those wonderful places with the modest setting, great atmosphere and outstanding cuisine. The Bistro. I love dining in them, they are my quickie trips to Paris (since I've never been there).   :-) Today's image is an early morning street scene taken while walking the downtown area. This place reminds me of New Orleans with it's architectural styling and the signature upper-level wrought iron railings.

This shot was taken around 8:00 in the morning with the sunlight turning harsh. I remember wishing that this place had been on the shady side of the street but sometimes you have to make the best of what lies before you. This was one of the last shots of the morning.

Before leaving I took a peek through the doors and the place looks quite inviting on the inside. Since I have never dined at this establishment a return trip during the evening hours is a must.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Front Row Seat

In a park or rural setting near you, there is a front row seat to nature's beauty. It's one of the things we once had plenty of time to enjoy before becoming adults with busy lives. But life is sweet and can often be short, so we should make the time to enjoy what surrounds us. How many times have you passed that neighborhood park (or other place of beauty) that has become just that, a park in your neighborhood? It blends into the everyday scenery after awhile and we eventually hardly notice it. Yet, there are those of us who will fill up our cars to drive great distances to visit a park in someone else's neighborhood.

Funny how that works!

Today's image was taken on the same foggy morning that I captured this "Daydreaming" image. I simply moved to another location and changed my perspective.

So, the next time you pass your neighborhood park, consider stopping in for a short visiting. Better yet, plan a visit to your neighborhood pocket of beauty and see what you may have been missing. Oh, and take your camera. :-)

Thanks for visiting!

The Quiet Farm

I have always found farms, barns and all things related to this rural lifestyle as attractive photographically. Today's image was taken on another early morning drive. There had been rain during the overnight so I was out early hoping for one of those unpredictable but surprisingly nice sunrises as the sky cleared. It never happened on this morning so I setup and tried to make the best of things from a spot along the roadside where vehicles can temporarily park.

This is the same farm the gave us "Til the Cows Come Home" in a previous post. This time, there were no signs of activity and it was eerily quiet. I guess the cows went home afterall. :-)

I wondered what this image would look like after a black & white conversion. You can see the result below.

As the Winter season winds to a close there will be plenty of activity to see in the coming weeks and months. The now quiet farms will spring to life as the planting and growing seasons begin anew.
