Enter the Castle

In today's post we return to Washington DC where we have a look at a place affectionately known as "The Castle". The Smithsonian Institute has many museums and buildings spread around Washington but this one is rather unique in it's appearance. We actually had a peek inside the gates designed by James Renwick in a previous post. This time we have approached the castle-like doors inside the Enid A Haupt Gardens.

I really like the architecture of this building so I was drawn in fairly easily. The fisheye was still mounted after taking the shot of the gates so it was only natural to add a little drama to this entrance. ;-)

If you are ever in the DC area, a visit to any of the Smithsonian Museums will be a fine treat.

Have a great weekend, everyone and thank you for visiting!

Gateway to the Courtyard

As Summer 2011 was closing out and the transition to Fall was underway, I visited the Baltimore Museum of Art on the Johns Hopkins University Homewood Campus. It's where I took this corner shot from inside one of the exhibits. The weather was gloomy and it had rained most of the day, which is why I decided to find something indoors. But before entering I dodged the raindrops enough to grab some shots of the courtyard near the Charles Street side of the campus. First up is the gateway to the courtyard. When I saw the gates I knew I wanted to throw on the fisheye lens for a little fun.

Next we step into the courtyard for a wider view, looking northeast.

After shooting a few more shots the rain began to intensify so it was time to call it off and head indoors.

Thanks so much for visiting and have a great day! :-)
