Morning Fog

I've written about the beauty of morning fog many times before, as represented here and here. It's an intriguing time to go out on a shoot simply because you can never be sure about what you'll come across. Sometimes it's a foggy sunrise, while other times you can witness the after-affects of the burn off.

Whatever the situation, if there is fog in the area during the early morning hours, grab the camera and go on the hunt. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Have a great weekend and thank you for visiting.

Front Row Seat

In a park or rural setting near you, there is a front row seat to nature's beauty. It's one of the things we once had plenty of time to enjoy before becoming adults with busy lives. But life is sweet and can often be short, so we should make the time to enjoy what surrounds us. How many times have you passed that neighborhood park (or other place of beauty) that has become just that, a park in your neighborhood? It blends into the everyday scenery after awhile and we eventually hardly notice it. Yet, there are those of us who will fill up our cars to drive great distances to visit a park in someone else's neighborhood.

Funny how that works!

Today's image was taken on the same foggy morning that I captured this "Daydreaming" image. I simply moved to another location and changed my perspective.

So, the next time you pass your neighborhood park, consider stopping in for a short visiting. Better yet, plan a visit to your neighborhood pocket of beauty and see what you may have been missing. Oh, and take your camera. :-)

Thanks for visiting!

Table for Four

Happy Friday! Here in the mid-Atlantic Region efforts are underway to batten down the hatches as the threat of Hurricane Sandy looms to the south. Whatever nature has in store remains a couple of days away.

In the meantime, I offer a calmer image of a foggy morning as the sun adds a little color to the scene. "Table for Four" is often heard at restaurants and dining establishments but in the image below, there is no line and no waiting. :-)

There are those who seldom think about picking up a camera when the weather is less than optimal but a second thought should be given to doing so, in my opinion. It can often be a time of magic and an opportunity to create an image that is quite different.

Until next time, all the best!

Into the Fog

Welcome back and happy Friday! Yet another busy week comes to a close. Had a few too many of these lately, but now look forward to some fun photographic projects I've been wanting to get to for some time. With that in mind, perhaps I should have named this "out" of the fog. :-)

Today we return to the headwaters of the Chesapeake Bay on a foggy morning, the same morning that I captured this sunrise. The scene below was so peaceful and eerily quiet that I simply sat and enjoyed the atmosphere for awhile after taking this shot. There was no boat traffic, people or even a crashing wave, just the fog and near silence.

Looking northward from this point where the Susquehanna River empties into the Chesapeake, there are several bridges which in this case, have faded into the fog.

A generous crop was given to this image to create a bit of a pano look and follow the bridge lines. After merging the 3-exposures (-2 to +2) in HDR Efex Pro and cleaning the final image up a bit, I applied a dash of the  "Brilliant Cold" filter in Topaz Adjust 5.

Thanks for stopping by, gang. Have a wonderful weekend!
