With Christmas Day less than three weeks away, the time has come to mix in a few holiday images. We begin with this Holiday Horse...
As we wind toward the Christmas Holiday, I will dive into an extended weekend with posting here resuming on Tuesday December 27th. I will still be out and about on the net during that period of time and will likely cross paths with many of you along the way.
Before going however, I sincerely thank you for all of your support throughout the year and look forward to even better times for us all in 2012 and beyond. It's been an amazing year in the photography community and I am truly thankful for the many friendships that have developed. So in the spirit of the season, I wish you and your families the very best!
Safe travels, and we'll see you on the other side. ;-)
It's that time of year, the holiday season is well underway and most U S cities (and others around the globe) are decked out with all of the trimmings. The "Big Apple" is certainly in full swing as evidenced by the fact that there is not a single corner in Manhattan that you can turn without seeing the festive colors of the season. While out and about a few days ago I made a few mental notes of some of the more outstanding holiday decorations and decided that I would return during night hours to photograph them. Below is one such display.
The crowds here this week have been quite large since there was the annual tree lighting in Rockefeller Plaza and a Presidential visit (same night). I decided to not tote my tripod for that reason, so this image is hand-held. I managed a single 2-second exposure at f20, which was then tonemapped during the post processing phase.
I started to pass on a B&W conversion, in fact, had already scheduled this post for the usual midnight launch. But then I kept wondering how it would look, so...
Here's hoping that this helps those of you who celebrate the Christmas season into a festive mood. ;-)
Thanks for visiting!
