Recently I was contacted by one of my online photographer friends, Orlett Pearson regarding a local photo opportunity in Baltimore. A group of contemporary jazz musicians known as The New Covenant Ensemble was performing in concert to launch their CD, entitled Genesis.
During the prohibition era of the 1920s when it was illegal to sell alcoholic beverages in the US, there were these establishments known as Speakeasies. Operating as undercover nightclubs that served illegal alcohol, they were quite popular and became a part of the culture.
In downtown Baltimore along the harbor's edge there is the Pier Six Pavilion where musicians of all genres put on some of the greatest concerts for the masses. From local upstarts to the worlds top entertainers have appeared here
