No Business Today

Quick post today. An unusual sight, a lone car in a busy business park normally teeming with traffic. There are numerous shops and businesses located here, but on this early morning of May 30th everything was at a standstill as the nation observed Memorial Day. This image shows only the front row of the park, there are many other establishments behind this row.

Photo taken just after first light under an overcast sky. The blue tones were a surprise in post processing as things seemed a bit on the dull and gray side initially.

Have a great day!

At a recent outing with friends in the Canton section of Baltimore we visited one of my favorite seafood restaurants, Bo Brooks (building on the left). After an afternoon of dining fun we decided to walk off some of the food and beverages. A storm was brewing and what had been a picture-perfect day began to look a little threatening. But before departing the area, a few photographic captures were in order. :-)

Street Scenes - Fleet & President Streets

Today's post represents the opening of my "Street Scenes" Series where I will feature life in and around cities that I visit. It is my hope that someday in the distant future, someone will view this series of images and wonder how life was back in the early 21st century, much as many of us love to view old photos of life in the early 20th century. This image is an early morning shot looking south outside of the Hilton Garden Inn located in Baltimore's Fells Point section of town. Like most major cities, there are a variety of neighborhoods, each with it's own unique history and Fells Point is certainly no different. Located on the water's edge of the inner harbor, this was once a shipbuilding area and dates back to the early 1700s. Many of the streets in the area are still covered in cobblestone.

Masonic Temple

Like many days this Spring, rain was in the offing and the day of this capture was no different. The castle-like building below is an old Masonic Temple, now converted to "Masonic Homes" for retired Masons. I have a feeling there are some very interesting things to photograph inside. Someday I'll return in an attempt to gain entry.

The place sits high atop a hill in Hunt Valley, Maryland and is visible from the surrounding area.

A 3-bracket set was run through Photomatix then exported to CS5 where a curve adjustment and a Topaz Adjust layer was added.
