Let's Go Cycling!

A nearby abondoned in place railroad passage (background) was converted into a wonderful cyling trail where many gather to ride in the peaceful off-road environment where vehicle traffic is non-existent and nature does her thing. :-) At the entrance are these three sculptures, a unicycle, a bicycle and of course the tricycle where most of us got our start. I thought these were really unique, since they are so big, each around 12 feet or more.

What seems such a simple shot turned out to be a little challenging in post processing, as they seemed determined to blend in with the green and shady background, so getting them to stand out just a bit while not over-saturating parts of the image was a concern. After the Photomatix run they were pulled into CS5 where a little Topaz detail was tweaked.

Bridge to Altered Reality

This is the opening post to my "Altered Reality" series, where I will showcase a little wild creativity and make use of some of the images captured that turned out to be less than expected. If you're reading this, I don't have to tell you about those shots that fall in that "eh" category. :-) Hey, it's the last stop before hitting the digital cutting room floor. Besides, they provide an opportunity to do a little experimenting in Photoshop and perhaps stumble upon a few processing tricks.  Otherwise, these types of images would simply be parked on one of my hard drives taking up valuable real estate.

And with that, on to the first in the series. This particular image is not too far over the top, but I'll get there for sure. LOL

As always, feedback and constructive criticisms are welcome.
