Well, we've reached March 1st which puts us on the glide path to Spring. It's one of the things I love about life in the Mid Atlantic Region of the U S. There is a transition in seasons about every 100 days. Besides being thankful for a very mild Winter, I've grown bored of the leafless trees and brown pastures. Today's short post features an item I've always wanted to photograph for some reason. The British phone booth.
That opportunity came last Summer while visiting an Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach. Some things turn up in the most surprising places. I actually wanted to travel to London or other places across the Atlantic to see this iconic device but was happy to see this authentic one in the museum lobby. I was told by a museum staffer that this booth was flown here during WWII. Imagine that, still out of service after all these years. The phone company may still be looking for this. :-)
It was nice to see that the booth at least had power and operational lights. Anyone know if these are still in use today? Here in the U S the phone booth has pretty much passed into history.
Thanks for visiting!
