Tree Farm

Welcome back! Now that we have reached the Fall season I have been anxiously awaiting some of Mother Nature's brilliant colors. Some of the foliage in my area has just begun it's fade from green so the peak color show remains weeks away. In the meantime, I thought I would reach back to this Spring and share an image of a tree farm showing some of it's best.

Tree farms are very interesting places with their overall neat appearances. In this case, I never got close enough to find out what type of trees were being grown here. They appear to be some type of flowering fruit species, mainly used for landscaping. In any case, this was an eye-catching scene.

Processing

This single image is pretty much as-shot, only having a slight S-curve and a boost of vibrance to a +22. No sharpening was added since I wanted to keep a somewhat soft look.

Thanks for visiting!

Still Standing

In a previous post we visited a tree farm where there were acres of evergreen trees neatly lined up in rows. Today, we take another point of view, one that always causes me to wonder about times past. Whenever I see an old building I think about how things must have been in it's glory days when it was all spiffed up and standing proudly. The builders must have had a high degree of admiration for their accomplishment. But that was yesteryear. Well weathered and worn, these two buildings have seen their better days. One is a barn, while the other may have had another purpose, not sure. You can see that many years have past since the stood proudly. Nevertheless, they are "Still Standing".

I ran the 3 exposure through Photomatix then pulled them into CS5 where a Topaz Adjust layer was employed. Topping things off was a light vignette via onOne Software's FocalPoint 2.

Tree Farm

A tree Farm in Caroll County Maryland grows it's wares, mainly evergreens like white pines and firs used for landscaping and Christmas trees. There are trees planted neatly in rows for acres and acres but I decided to crop this to include the edges of an old barn and out building. There are also many old farm implements of interest sitting around which I will show in some future posts.

This was processed in Photomatix, then imported into CS5 layered with the 3-bracket set originally shot. I also added in a Wow Landscape layer from onOne's Photo Tools 2.6 and dropped the opacity to 30%.
