One thing about places like the Baltimore Inner Harbor is the fact that it has been photographed from practically every conceivable angle. Nonetheless,
Welcome back! We begin this week with another Blue Monday photo. "Bridge in Blue" was taken during the magical blue hour, which lasted more like 40 minutes in this case. In this image there are actually two bridges, the Waterman's Memorial Bridge (foreground) is the lesser in height. Towering above it is the Kent Narrows Bridge.
Waterman's Memorial is an old drawbridge and is part of the American Discovery Trail.
As mentioned above, the "blue hour" was about 40 minutes on this particular date but small window of opportunity aside, in order to get those purple and blue hues you have to be on location, setup and ready to go during that time. Arrive early and allow yourself time to scout the location and find the best vantage point the target you have in mind.
Here is my previous blue hour postwhich gives a little detail on a nice smartphone app that lets you know exactly when blue hours occur by date. You can also visit BlueHourSite.comand use the online version.
Shot stats: ISO 200, 20mm, f/22, 13 sec, processed in Lightroom 5
