Reef Chief

Reef Chief

The 120-foot motor yacht Reef Chief is a beautifully designed luxury vessel that I have been seeing in Baltimore's inner harbor for many years. I have also noticed that it is away from its usual berth in Baltimore for long periods of time and wondered if it spent winter months in the tropics or sailing the high seas to other global locations.

Cabin Cruiser

Cabin cruisers are wonderful watercraft that can be considered luxury powerboats. This class of boat generally falls in the 25 to 45-foot range and can comfortably accommodate a designated number of passengers and crew, depending on it's size. I have always considered these as the best of both worlds, as they are very seaworthy and functional for work and / or play. Today's cabin cruisers are loaded with electronic gear and and the latest marine technology.

After a wonderful outing on the Chesapeake Bay, we came back in port at sunset and I snagged the shot below as we were docking.

What had been an ordinary scene when we left the area earlier in the day, turned out to be an eye-pleasing sight upon our return. The soft lighting provided by the setting Sun was good to see as we made our approach.

Happy Friday everyone! Weekends often provide time for some fun and relaxation, moments to gather your thoughts or to pursue your favorite pastime. Whatever the case, here's to a great one filled with memories. I'll be busy on Saturday but a 1/2 weekend will do nicely as well. ;-)

We close out the week with a peaceful scene of a sailboat anchored in the harbor during the blue hour. It was around 5:40 am, which is one of my favorite times to be out and about, chasing that short-lived twilight. There is something very special about this time of day, beyond the special lighting available to us photogs. There is that solitude and brief period to connect with nature, uninterrupted.

Well, before I go off waxing philosophical, let's get on to today's image.

Welcome to the weekend! Another busy week comes to a conclusion so it's time for a little unwinding. I sincerely thank you all for the many visits, comments and shares. It is greatly appreciated and I certainly enjoy traveling about cyberspace and checking out the great talents of the photoblog community.

Today we have a look at a yacht I encountered while dining with friends some months ago. It's a gorgeous vessel that appears to have plenty of bells and whistles to add to the sailing experience. I have no idea who the owner may be, but I'm inviting you aboard so you can sail off into your weekend activities. As you can see, it was a cloudy day when this photo was taken but never mind that now... it's the weekend.

Be safe!
