Giddy Up!

Before getting into today's post I wanted to again thank everyone for your feedback, comments,  plus 1s (on Google Plus) and RTs. It really means a lot to me and I so enjoy this photographic community and all of the talented individuals I interact with. You're all awesome! While out early one morning, as I am quite often, I stopped by a lake in hopes of catching a fisherman or two in a boat near the shoreline. I've been after a certain shot for some time and it has eluded me thus far. This particular lake has a nice trail that circles the perimeter and there are often mountain bikers, walkers and sometimes even people on horseback.

Having resigned myself to the fact that my intended target was again not available, I headed back to my vehicle wondering what I could do about the moody sky that begged to serve as a backdrop for something. After reaching the bottom of a steep hill I took one last glance and there it was. Like magic, a couple appeared on horseback from out of nowhere. I hit the prone position like a sniper and waited for the two to cross my field of view. I fired off several sets of handheld brackets and settled on the one below to process. Most of the steep hillside has been cropped out of the frame.

Enjoy!

Along Came a Spider

Welcome back good people, I really hope you had a great weekend and also had an opportunity to make a memory or three. :-) My weekend was a little busy but it still provided a break from the regular routine.  We endured quite a few thunderstorms the past several days, as Summer begins to wane and another seasonal transition gets underway. Just after one of those storms I headed out to my truck to get something off of the back seat. As I opened the rear door I saw this well constructed spider web leading from the rear window to the truck bed. I then looked for the spider, finding he or she nestled in the space around the window. well, like any photog worth his or her salt, I patiently waited for the spider to get back to work. I captured several shots, including the one below.

Since it's Monday and my friend Ed Prescott has a Macro Monday Series, I thought I would join in on the fun this week.

I hope you enjoy the shot and have a spectacular day!

Grazing

Welcome to the weekend! Maryland, like Kentucky is huge in the horse racing industry. With horse breeding farms scattered all around the counties there are plenty of opportunities to see some of these beautiful animals. On an early Spring day I was driving through Worthington Valley and snapped the photo below when I saw these horses grazing near the fence line.

Could there be a world class speedster in the bunch or are they simply for riding and steeplechasing? One thing is certain, these animals live a very good life here in the valley. :-)

Be safe and have a great weekend folks!

Soccer Deer

Welcome to the weekend everyone! Yeah, it was a short week on the back end of the July 4th Holiday, but hey, I'm always ready for a break. :-)

Thanks again for all of the support, I really appreciate it.

Since it's Friday, let me remind you about my friend Jason Hines' Friday Photo Spots, where he always has a ton of great photo post from around the net collected in one convenient place. I've discovered lots of great photogs via these posts.

Okay, to round out this week I have to tell a little story. You've all heard of Soccer Moms. Well I present you with Soccer Deer. Part of my duties with Baltimore County is the oversight of 90 acres of park land, which includes a regional park. I arrived around 6:30 one morning, finding all to be normal or so I thought. As it turned out, a female deer had become entangled in one of the Soccer goals overnight. Perhaps some midnight play was going on, and without a permit to boot. :-)

I called in my Natural Resources Wildlife team pals, who attempted to untangle this mess of a soccer net, but the deer was wrapped so thoroughly we had to cut the net away to free her.

Below is a photo of the goalie deer. Enjoy the shot and have a great weekend!

Get out there and create some memories!
